The Yutaka Kikutake Gallery provides support for emerging contemporary artists based in Japan. This website specifically is designed to showcase only a section of the redesigned YKG's website, specifically the exhibition hosted there titled "Youth."
Evolving a brand.
Inspired by Japanese characters, I took the letters Y K, and G to create an abstract form highlighting each letter in a looping gif.
Because the work displayed in “Youth” is incredibly bright and detailed, I chose to keep a minimal design for all surrounding elements, using a black-and-white color palette and large type to create a nice contrast from the work to the space it is in. The minimalism also refers to the YKG building’s simple and modern architecture.
